it's true that bands like pulp, suede, blur, oasis, manic street preachers, rarely get any airplay here in the states, but that's all i listen too.

interesting statement just above the picture of the new world translation.. i never thought about it, but if the watchtower is so interested in worldwide bible education, then why don't they have an online version of the nwt?.
I've wondered too, why is there not a Bible and all of their works on the Watchtower site. They have the money and the cheap labour to do it. Like SixofNine mentioned, the best communication tool for information is right now, and the Watchtower society will not use it. It would be cheaper for every witness if the society published their works on the net. But you know what, the society could not ask witnesses to donate money for the printing process, because there would not be any printing process. So the society would lose their bread and butter if they printed their stuff on the net.

i saw it at my cousin's house last night, it was very interesting.
it traced the lineage of man back to the "real eve", who lived somewhere in africa about 150,000 years ago.
they were able to make this determination by reading the "mitocondrial dna" of humans; looking for mutations, etc.

I saw the program you mentioned where Ezekial may have encounted a UFO. I believe the program was called Mysteries of the Bible. (I could be wrong about the title) also on this program was a theory that Jesus did not die on the cross, but actually moved to France and had a family. Another part of the program was that maybe Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed by a nuclear exposion.

this is a question, that i am very curious about, wondering or pondering, thinking if some people would kiss up to their bosses to get ahead in the company that they were employed in; to get a raise, or a promotion, and then i'm thinking of the 'special treatment' clause if you had a personally relationship w/ your supervisor?
i guess w/ my present day situation the thought has crossed my mind, and i can't help but wonder this...if one particular person is "using" me to advance his career.
this is a jw issue, cuz this person is a jw.
I think hard work and a good personality among other qualities are what will further you to get ahead. You don't want to kiss up to your boss because that approach can be risky and may even backfire on you. Your work may suffer if are brownosing and your boss may realise that you are brownosing and might frown upon that. You do want to have a good relationship with your boss. But everbodys situation is different. For me personally, my boss told me at the staff X-mas party that she would be in her glory if I were to date her daughter. And I can honestly say that I never really kissed ass. Well, maybe I did a little, but not to get ahead, just to get....well I won't say.

what is the difference between one of the annointed and r&f witness?
seems the only difference is that they get to eat and drink one more time during the year compared to a regular witness.
if they were so special wouldn't god use them differently than a r&f witness?

i have read, heard and felt everyones posts here on what it feels like to be shunned.. if i was an ego maniac, so focused on my own everlasting, selfish survival, i could understand the 'power'.. but who of us here want to believe that?

so...i have been involved with jws for 21 years, have a wonderful husband and 4 wonderful daughters( i am so lucky!!!
) and for a year or so have been steadily leaving the org.it didnt amswer my questions or satisfy my needs at first- but then i started to do my own searching and found out alot of things that were just wrong.
my oldest daughter decided to da herself and i knew that i would never turn my back on her.
nice to meet you sndy420. I think most people who leave have a spiritual void because a person relied on the org so much. Now a person is on their own and not sure where to turn to. A big part of there life is simply not there anymore. I find if you seek you shall find. You find people on this board who are athiest to pagans to born-again christians. Good luck.

after all if what these people say is true then anybody that dosent know what it is in deep trouble.
There are many ways to start chipping away. I have found that many witnesses do not know their history about the org. You could begin with " Since we both know it was taught for many years from your religion that Jesus returned in 1874, but in later years there was a better understanding of this and his return was changed to 1914. I was not sure when this change occurred, could you please help me with this."
I believe the change happened in 1930 in the book Prophecy. But what you want to do is plant a seed of doubt in their mind. Go to the website quotes at the bottom of the page and print off some stuff. Ask them many questions about their history and when they say you need a Bible study with them, just tell maybe it should work the other way and they need a Bible study with you because you will know more about the org than they will.

There was an article in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix when this first came out. Non-Jws who mentioned this article to me could not believe what was happening. Everybody feels sorry for the girl because of her illness, but people could not believe the treatment of the father by the witnesses and the family. He wants to see his daughter live and with the choice that was made there is a chance she might just do so. For this he is shunned by everybody including the ill girl. I told these non-jws what it is like to be shunned and they were horrified. One lady asked "what then, is love towards one another based on your faith to the organization"? I said "pretty much" She said she will look at witnesses different from now on when they come to her door becasue of this situtation. From what I can gather, this whole situation has put the witnesses in a bad light from a non-jw view. On the other hand, it will probably make the average jw stronger in that they will not disobey the organization in fear of being shunned like this man.
